The Terror Dog Squad began in 2020 as The Grid: A Cosplay Odyssey, a community-driven group dedicated to turning fandom into a force for good. With costumes spanning Star Wars, Star Trek, and countless other beloved franchises, we started as a small circle of passionate fans making free, community-focused appearances that spread smiles and supported local causes.
Following SacAnime 2021, we were invited to join the NorCal Ghostbusters: Sacramento Division (now the 916 Ghostbusters) and participated in several events with them. As our focus began to shift more heavily toward charitable and community-driven work, we sought to align with a group that had deeper experience in that space. This led us to connect with the Sacramento Ghostbusters in early 2022, partnering with them as a supplemental B-Squad to expand our outreach and continue growing our impact through community service.
The name “Terror Dog Squad” had been in the works for months and officially became reality on March 9, 2022, when Lee Briesemeister of the Sacramento Ghostbusters unveiled the original logo—followed two days later by the debut of the now-iconic red-eye version. We made our official public appearance on April 15, 2022 as guests of the Sacramento Ghostbusters at the Crocker Art Museum's Crocker Art Mix (now called Crocker Con).
Later in 2022, founding member Aaron Spicer launched our annual “Save Christmas!” Toy Drive. Partnering with Toys for Tots, we’ve helped collect more than 3,700 toys for families in need over the last two years. Since then, our mission has expanded to supporting charities, local organizations, nonprofits, comic cons, and community events of all kinds.
In July 2025, we proudly became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and joined Sony Ghost Corps’ Ghostbusters Give Back initiative, strengthening our commitment to service and community impact.
At the heart of being a Ghostbuster is teamwork — and for us, that means more than just wearing a uniform. We've been proud to collaborate with fellow franchises like the Northern California Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters: Fresno Division, Ecto Fleet Alliance West Coast, and the Orange County Ghostbusters (Southern California), all united by a shared mission: to bring joy, inspire hope, and make a positive impact through charitable appearances and community service.
Today, the Terror Dog Squad has grown beyond California, with members across multiple states carrying forward that same spirit of collaboration, creativity, and service. Our team is made up of storytellers, builders, photographers, and passionate fans who believe in using our love for Ghostbusters to give back. Wherever we suit up, our goal remains simple — bust boredom, spark joy, and make a difference in the communities we serve.
